‘Dons Blast Three Home Runs in 8-6 Loss at Notre Dame

The Mastodons took a 3-0 lead into the fifth thanks to a three-spot in the third inning. Justin Osterhouse started the frame with a solo home run. Sage Adams drove Camden Karczewski in with a double and Adams came around on an Owen Willard single.
Notre Dame took the lead back with a four-spot in the fifth inning. But, back came the 'Dons. Brooks Sailors hit a solo home run in the sixth. Kevin Hall followed with a home run, his second in as many days, in the seventh inning. Hall's two-run shot scored Jackson Micheels and made the score 7-6 in favor of the Fighting Irish. Notre Dame added an insurance run in the eighth inning on a Bino Watters home run.
The Mastodons used nine pitchers in the game with Aidan Pearson going the longest. He threw 2.2 shutout innings.
Sailors opened the game with a double to move his on-base streak to 34 games. Osterhouse had a walk and a hit by pitch in addition to his home run.
Trent Murphy (1-2) suffered the loss for the 'Dons. Xavier Hirsch threw 2.2 innings to get the win. (2-0). Ricky Reeth picked up his third save of the year by tossing the final two innings.
Notre Dame improves to 21-17. Purdue Fort Wayne falls to 7-32. The Mastodons host Youngstown State this weekend.
