INDIANAPOLIS - Bailey Manos, Grace Hollopeter and Tori Countryman were selected to the All-Horizon League First Team on Tuesday (May 6), while Alanah Jones earned an All-League Second Team nod and Addison Zimpleman was named to the All-Freshman Team.
Manos was one of the most consistent players in the Horizon League at the plate, finishing the league season with a .403 batting average and .484 on-base percentage. Both of those marks were top-three in the Horizon League this year. She scored 29 runs in HL play, the most of any player. Her league season was highlighted by a 3-for-5 performance at Oakland that put her a single shy of the cycle. She had an inside the park home run in that contest. She finished league play with 31 hits, five doubles, four triples and two home runs with 16 RBIs. This is Manos' second All-League honor, as she earned an All-Horizon League Second Team nod in her freshman season.
Hollopeter is the best power hitter in Mastodon history. She owns a .605 slugging percentage for her career, the best ever, including a .702 mark this season. In league play, it was even better, as Hollopeter slugged .739 on a .362 batting average. Her slugging percentage ranked fourth-best in the Horizon League this season and her OBP (.477) and OPS (1.216) ranked third. She had seven of her 10 home runs against league opponents, which was good for second in the league. Hollopeter earned two Horizon League Player of the Week awards this season. This is Hollopeter's second All-Horizon League First Team honor in as many seasons. She also earned an All-Freshman Team distinction in 2023.
Countryman had the best season of her career this year, improving her batting average by nearly .190 from last season. She batted .354 overall, upping it to .368 in Horizon League action. That average was seventh-best in the league. In league, Countryman had 28 hits, 15 RBIs, 10 runs, two doubles and a triple while striking out just four times in 76 at bats. She had three hits in five league games this season and reached the base paths in each of the last seven games of the regular season. Countryman earned a spot on the Horizon League All-Freshman Team and All-League Second Team in 2023.
Jones threw 166.1 innings this season, the most in the HL. In league play, she tossed 102.1, the second-most. She recorded a 2.94 ERA and struck out 72 batters in Horizon League play, both ranking fifth in the league. The junior recorded 10 wins in the HL, including four in a row between the Detroit Mercy and Youngstown State series. Jones had 15 complete games in her 17 league appearances. This is Jones' third All-League nod in her three seasons. She was selected to the All-Freshman Team in 2023 and the All-Horizon League Second Team last season.
Zimpleman started all 42 games at shortstop this season, including all 24 Horizon League contests. She had a .221 batting average and slugged .529 in Horizon League play with five home runs and 14 RBIs. She had at least one hit in a seven-game stretch from April 16-26. Zimpleman joins a strong core of Mastodons that have earned All-Freshman Team honors, as Countryman, Hollopeter and Jones all earned the distinction in 2023.
Manos, Hollopeter, Countryman, Jones, Zimpleman and the rest of the Mastodons are in action this week at the Horizon League Championship in Cleveland. They will play Northern Kentucky on Wednesday (May 7) at noon.
