'Dons Fall at Southern Indiana

EVANSVILLE, Ind. - The Purdue Fort Wayne women's soccer team dropped their final non-league match 6-1 at Southern Indiana on Sunday (Sept. 14).
Southern Indiana opened the match with a quick third minute shot on goal, corralled by keeper Jordan Imes. Kyra Posey took advantage of her first career start, ripping a shot just left of the goal in the fifth minute.
The Screaming Eagles capitalized on a seventh minute corner kick, turning a saved on-goal header into a tap in goal. Southern Indiana doubled their lead in the 25th minute off another corner kick to a header.
Mary McArdle chipped into the opposing lead, scoring off a free kick opportunity just outside of the keeper's box in the 28th minute.
The Screaming Eagles dominated the offensive end for the second half of the match, putting up seven shots on goal in the half and scoring in the 50th, 68th, 76th and 88th minutes.
Purdue Fort Wayne falls to 1-6-1 and Southern Indiana climbs to 3-5-1. The Mastodons will play their first Horizon League contest on Thursday (Sept. 18), hosting Wright State for the 'Dons' annual pink out game.
