Mastodon T&F Completed First Day of Meyo Invitational and Jet's Pizza Invitational

SOUTH BEND, Ind. & UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - The Purdue Fort Wayne women's track and field team completed their first day of competition at Notre Dame's Meyo Invitational and Saginaw Valley State's Jet's Pizza Invitational on Friday evening (Jan. 30).
Ali Sparks threw the Horizon League's furthest shot put mark of the season, coming in at 14.48 meters.
Ava McAlexander completed her first pentathlon as a Mastodon at Saginaw Valley State, finishing with 1482. The Indiana native recorded a personal record in the 60 meter hurdles (10.34) and completed three events for the first time in her career: high jump (1.35 meters), shot put (7.57 meters) and 800 meters (3:07.65).
Amelie Mach ran two personal record times in South Bend. The sophomore ran a qualifying 8.99 time in the 60 meter hurdles, she will race in the preliminary round at 11:55 a.m. tomorrow (Jan. 31). The Illinois native also ran a pr time in the 600 meters, finishing in 1:38.35.
Two Mastodons ran qualifying times in the 60 meter dash qualifier. Aniya Young led the 'Dons with 7.76 and Harmony Johnson finished in 7.77. The 60 meter dash preliminary round will be at 12:25 p.m. tomorrow afternoon (Jan. 31).
The Mastodons competing at the Meyo Invitational tomorrow are: Kynzlei Bassett, Francesca Carlo, Ava Genovese, McKayla Henry, Haylee Hile, Bella Hodges, Lillian Hurd, Johnson, Mach, Madeline McClerren, Kaylee Rogaczewski, Sanayah Ruffin, Sparks, Riley Tate, Young. Scout Warner and Martia Williams will compete at SVSU tomorrow.
