'Dons Drop I-69 Rivalry Match at Ball State

MUNCIE, Ind. - The Purdue Fort Wayne men's volleyball team fell in straight sets (25-18, 25-22, 25-12) on Friday night (Feb. 27) at Ball State.
The Cardinals opened up the first set with a 7-2 lead. The Mastodons managed to shorten the lead to 10-8, but Ball State rallied off a 5-1 run to pull away. The Cardinals hit three service aces and a .400 hitting percentage in the first frame to claim set one 25-18.
Logan Muir came alive in the second set, notching seven kills. The 'Dons owned an lead early in the second set following four unanswered points behind Kaden Fosdick's serve, going up 10-8. Ball State rallied back with their own 4-0 scoring streak. Both sides battled through the remainder of the set, but the Cardinals did just enough to win 25-22.
The final set was all Ball State. The AVCA's number 10 team in the nation rattled off a 17-5 run through two timeouts to finish off the 'Dons. The Cardinals ended set three up 25-12.
Carlo Huisden finished with six kills and nine digs.
No. 20 Purdue Fort Wayne falls to 8-5 on the year, an even 3-3 in MIVA play. No. 10 Ball State rises to 15-2 for the season, 6-1 in MIVA play. The 'Dons finish out their road trip by heading to No. 15 Lewis (March 5) and No. 8 Loyola Chicago (March 7).
