CINCINNATI – The Purdue Fort Wayne men's soccer team fell at Xavier on Thursday (Aug. 20) evening 2-1 in the season opener for both clubs. Old Dominion transfer Jordan Rodgers scored for the Mastodons in the 85^th minute. Antonio Tiscareno assisted on the goal.

Xavier took the lead in the 33^rd minute on a tally by Nolan Brice, Alejandro Silvestrini had the assist. Xavier extended their lead to 2-0 in the 65^th minute. Gerard Lorente scored and Ely Detty assisted.

Jozef Palushaj, Tiscareno, Trey Theard and Brandon Razo added shots on goal in the contest for the 'Dons.

Purdue Fort Wayne held a 7-4 edge in corner kicks, with six in the second half. The Mastodons out-shot Xavier in the second half 5-4.

Xavier improves to 1-0. Purdue Fort Wayne falls to 0-1. The Mastodons are back in action on Aug. 31 at Dayton.
