Eastern Illinois enters Sunday's match with a 1-1-2 record. The Panthers opened the season with a 2-0 win over Valparaiso before playing to scoreless draws against the University of Illinois Chicago and Indiana State. EIU suffered its first loss of the season at Purdue, falling 8-0. Through four matches, the Panthers have scored two goals on 26 shots while allowing eight goals and recording 32 saves. EIU finished the 2025 season with an 8-8-3 overall record and a 5-3-1 mark in Ohio Valley Conference play. Eastern Illinois returns 2025 OVC Goalkeeper of the Year Ella Kratochvil, along with 2025 OVC First Team selections Alex Tetteh and Colleen Bauer and All-OVC Newcomer Team honoree Camylle Graves. The Panthers were picked to finish second in the OVC in the 2026 preseason poll.
SERIES HISTORY
Eastern Illinois leads the series 5-3-2. The last three meetings have resulted in a scoreless draw, a 1-0 Mastodon victory and a 2-0 Panther win.
LAST TIME OUT
Purdue Fort Wayne dropped a non-league match at Central Michigan 6-1 on Thursday (Aug. 27). Cyann Retzloff netted her first goal of the season in the 68th minute, finishing a rebound off the top crossbar. The goal marked the third of her career. Reserves Audriana Rhyner and Bella Masse each recorded shots, with Rhyner leading the Mastodons with three shots and one on goal off the bench.
COMING UP
Purdue Fort Wayne returns home on Thursday (Sept. 3) to host Valparaiso for the department's annual Party at the Pitch. The Mastodon men's soccer team will host Manchester at 7 p.m. There will be food trucks, giveaways and a beer tent (21+). The event is presented by Army ROTC and hosted by the Student Activities Board.
