Lindenwood Takes Non-League Contest From Mastodon WVB

NORMAL, Ill. - Purdue Fort Wayne women's volleyball dropped a non-league contest to Lindenwood 25-14, 25-21, 25-20 on Friday (Sept. 11) to open the Linda Herman Volleyball Classic.
Riley Rosneck highlighted the match for the Mastodons, recording 12 kills. Purdue Fort Wayne was at its best in the third set, which saw the 'Dons hit .400.
Lindenwood jumped out to a 12-5 lead in the opening set before Mya Plemons and Haiden Means recorded back-to-back kills for the 'Dons. The Lions hit .333 in the first set to take the frame.
Purdue Fort Wayne led 6-5 early in the second set thanks to three blocks. The 'Dons finished the match with a 10-2 edge in that category. Later on, Lindenwood led 23-17, but the 'Dons responded with a 3-0 run with three more blocks in a row. The Lions ultimately took the 2-0 lead after two more kills.
The third set was all offense for both sides, with the Lions out-hitting the Mastodons .423-.400. There were just 10 combined digs between the two teams in the final frame.
Purdue Fort Wayne moved to 3-5 while Lindenwood improved to 6-2. The Mastodons will move on to battle with Western Illinois on Saturday (Sept. 12) at 2 p.m. ET.
