2010 Season
Walker made 16 appearances for IPFW in 2010, nine of those were starts. Had an overall record of 3-6 with an 8.51 ERA. Tossed a complete-game, a 21-6 win over Chicago State on April 5. In that game, he struck out a season-high eight Cougars. In 55.0 innings of work, Walker struck out 54. Tossed 7.0 innings against Oral Roberts on May 1. Had a season-high two assists at UALR on March 5.
2009 Season
Sam Walker made 14 starts for IPFW in 2009 and posted a team-low ERA of 4.17. He struck out 45 while walking 27 in 54.0 innings on the hill. Tossed a season-high 7.0 innings at Oral Roberts on Apr. 4. Struck out six on two occasions, Mar. 6 vs. Albany and Apr. 4 at Oral Roberts. Had a pair of putouts at Centenary on Apr. 26 and had three assists vs. LeMoyne on Mar. 28.
2008 Season
Walker made 17 appearances for IPFW in 2008. Led the team in saves with four. Those saves came at Soutern Utah (Apr. 4), vs. North Dakota State (Apr. 18), vs. Centenary College (Apr. 27), and at Oakland (May 3). Posted a 5.62 era, striking out 21 while walking just nine in 32.0 innings of work. Threw a season high 5.0 innings at Southern Utah on April 5. He struck out a season high four in that ball game. Had putouts vs. Saint Louis (Mar. 14), Indiana (Mar. 23), and Southern Utah (Apr. 5). Had assists in two games; March 1 at Georgia State in his collegiate debut and April 13 at Western Illinois.
High School
Sam graduated from Lafayette Central Catholic. In 2004 and 2007 he won the Class A baseball state championship. He was a two time All-Area player, selected to the IHSBCA Junior All-Star team, and the IHSBCA North/South All-Star team. In basketball, Sam was All-Area and East/West All-Star, his team was twice semi-state runner-up and once as a regional runner-up.
Personal
Sam is son of Brian and Julie Walker. His father was a starter on the 1980 Purdue Final Four team and was selected Co-MVP with #1 draft pick Joe Barry Carroll. He has two siblings, Grace and Oliver. Sam is a Pre-Med-Biology major at IPFW.
