He tossed just two-thirds of an inning before shutting it down and red-shirting.
2008 Season
Knowling was a junior college transfer from Kaskaskia Community College. He made an instant impact as one of the best pitchers in IPFW history. As a junior, Knowling had an impressive campaign. Heled the [apos]Dons in just about every pitching category including: wins (7-1), innings pitched (68), strike outs (51), earned run average (2.91), and opponents batting average (.249). For his efforts, Knowling was named to the All-Summit League First Team. He had a season-high 11 strikeouts vs. North Dakota State on April 18. He also pitched a season-high 8.0 innings in that contest, as well as a start vs. South Dakota State at Mastodons Field on May 9. Had a season 3 assists at Indiana (Mar. 22) and Western Illinois (Apr. 13). Knowling didn[apos]t lose a game until his season finale against Summit League Tournament Champion and Super Regional participant Oral Roberts. In cold and windy conditions on May 15, the Golden Eagles topped Knowling and the Mastodons, 3-2.
