2009 Season
Joel Washko started 38 of the 42 games he played inright field for IPFW in 2009.Finished the season with a batting average of .261.He drove in 15 runs and was 6-6 in stolen base attempts. Scored a season-high four runs vs. LeMoyne College on Mar. 29. Had three-hit games three times during the year, Mar. 25 at Butler, Apr. 11 vs. Southern Utah, and Apr. 25 at Centenary. Drove in a season-high three runs in that ballgame. Had a pair of doubles at Oral Roberts on Apr. 3.Registered a season-high six putouts at Dayton on Apr. 15 and had outfield assists in three games.
Before coming to IPFW
Washko transferred to IPFW after playing for two seasons at Springfield College in Springfield, Illinois. Named to the All-Region 24 team. Chosen Second-Team All-MWAC. Hit .402 in 2008 and led the conference in walks and runs scored.
Joel graduated from Sacred Heart-Griffen, where he played baseball and basketball. On the diamond, Joel was selected twice to the State Journal-Register Classic, once with Williamsville H.S. (sophomore) and once with Sherman H.S. (senior). On the hardwood, Joel was selected first team All-Conference his senior season.
Personal
Joel is the son of Troy (former Centenary College player) and Cheryl Washko. He has one brother, Jared, and two sisters, Anna and Alise. Joel is majoring in Political Science at IPFW.
