Bailey Benefiel returns to Purdue Fort Wayne as a graduate assistant softball coach. Her first season with the Mastodons as a coach was 2020. She spent two years with the 'Dons as a pitcher.
In her first season as a coach, the Mastodons went 3-21 before the season was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Benefiel was named Second Team All-Summit League in 2018 after earning Summit League Pitcher of the Week three times (Feb. 12, April 2 and April 16). She was also named to the Summit League All-Tournament Team in her senior season. She finished third in the Summit League in wins and strikeouts in 2018 and recorded 220 strikeouts, in 316.1 innings pitched in her two years with the Mastodons. She ended her playing career in Fort Wayne with a 4.20 ERA.
Prior to Purdue Fort Wayne, Benefiel played a season of softball at Indiana State in 2016, leading the Sycamores in nearly every pitching category: wins (9), innings pitched (163.1), saves (1), strikeouts (69), complete games (13), shutouts (2) and appearances (41). She also spent a year at Jefferson College, earning All-America honors while in Hillsboro, Missouri.
Benefiel currently resides in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
