In her first year with the Mastodons, the 'Dons won 11 games in their first in the Horizon League, which was the most league wins since 2014. She followed it up with a 7-42 season under first-year head coach Amber Bowman.
She joined the Mastodon staff after a stop at Alverno College, a Division III institution in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She spent two seasons with the Inferno, primarily responsible for the pitching staff, while also acting as interim head coach between hires in her first season.
In the abbreviated 2020 season, her pitching staff was highlighted by freshman Seneca Peterson who finished the year with a 0.83 earned run average. Prior to her stint at Alverno, Sanderson spent one year at Northland College in Ashland, Wisconsin, where she also served as the pitching coach.
Sanderson is no stranger to Horizon League softball, as she was a member of the Green Bay Phoenix program for two seasons before transferring to Northwestern Ohio. She earned six wins with a 3.60 ERA, which paved the way for a place on the Horizon League All-Freshman Team. As a sophomore, she recorded nine wins in 21 starts. She struck out 91 batters in 122 innings. Once at Northwestern Ohio, Sanderson won 35 games in two seasons with 175 strikeouts and a 3.19 ERA.
