2007 Season: Powell was a double threat for the [apos]Dons, pitching and fielding for IPFW. She led the pitching staff with a 5.33 ERA. Powell also tied for the most wins on the season with two, including a shutout against Tennessee State on March 4, while allowing only 4 hits and 1 walk.
Prep: Powell was a four year member of the varsity softball team while at Frankton. She was a member of the state runner-up team in 2005 and 2006. During the 2005 and 2006 seasons Powell was named to the 2nd team All-State, All-Central Indiana Conference and All-Madison County teams. She was Pitcher of the Year for Madison County and was the team captain in 2006. Academically, Powell was the salutatorian of her class and was a member of the National Honors Society and Spanish Honors Society. She graduate with an Academic Honors diploma.
Personal: Kayla is the daughter of Bob Powell and Angie Parker. She has a brother, Ben, and a sister, Paige. Powell is majoring in Nursing at IPFW.
