
After Soggy Start, IPFW Finishes Fifth

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - After a rain filled start, the Mastodons wrapped up the IPFW Fall Classic with the individual records matched and team records broken. Overall the 'Dons finished 5th in the field of 11 teams.
The 'Dons demolished the previous team records for a low 18 and a low 36 while Alison Rathsman matched the previous individual records for 18 and 36.
IPFW shot a 301 on Monday, beating the low 18 team record by 19 strokes. On Tuesday, the 'Dons shot a 320 to give them a 36 hole total of 621. They beat the low 36 team record by 23 shots which previously stood at a 644 set this year at the Butler Fall Invite.
Rathsman finished tied for fifth after two rounds with a 150. The 150 matched her previous low 36 that was set in 2005 at the IPFW Fall Classic. On Monday she also matched her previous low 18 of 71 which was also set at the IPFW Fall Classic in 2005.
Butler took top team honors with a 608. IUPUI finished just eight strokes behind with a 616 in second.
IUPUI's Kellie Marshall finished in first with a 144. She also set a new course record for the women at Deer Track with her 67 she shot on Monday. Marshall beat the previous course record by two strokes.
IUPUI also took second place with Tara Boone. She had a 146.
IPFW was led by Rathsman, tied for fifth with a 150. Jillian Speece was tied for 8th with a 153 and Abbey Waltke tied for 18th with a 157.
The Mastodons will now prepare for the Austin Peay State University on October 22nd and 23rd.
