IPFW got their bats going in game one with eight hits, but left ten base runners stranded in the 4-1 defeat. IPFW's lone run was recorded in the third off of a trio of singles by pitcher Kayla Powell, second baseman Abby Liden, and shortstop Ty Lambert. Lambert ended up going 2 for 4 in the game, while centerfielder Beatrice Pedraza went 2 for 3. Katy Stephens and Alysha Scheidt each singled to round out the IPFW hitting. The loss puts Powell at 2-6 on the season. The `Dons couldn't manage to capitalize on any scoring opportunities, leaving eight on base. Stephens was 2 for 3 in the game with a double. Scheidt also doubled, while Liden, Jil Price, and Michelle Meighen each contributed a single. IPFW righty Katie Aspegren is now 1-12 in the circle. IPFW will have a chance to avenge the losses on Tuesday, April 24 when they square off with the Flyers again at the IPFW Softball Complex. The game is slated for noon. ~Dons~
