Bowling Green, OH-The men's and women's cross country teams competed in the annual Mel Brodt Invitational hosted by Bowling Green University this afternoon.
The men's team was led by Hunter Paris who set a new school record in the 8k with a time of 25:30.06. Paris finished in ninth place.
Garret Bradtmueller (26:59.54/65th), Russel Wilk (27:22.41/73rd), and Ben Townsend (27:57.10/86th) each broke their personal best in the 8k as well. Mark Green rounded out IPFW's top five with a time of 28:02.32. The men placed tenth of twelve teams.
On the women's side, IPFW junior Crystina Martinez led the team for the second week in a row with a time of 18:15.08. Martinez was the only 'Don to break into the top ten with a tenth place finish. Crystal Martinez (18:18.80/11th), Sussy Odipo (18:44.44/24th), Valerie Hardesty (19:08.57/36th), and freshman Ashley Porter (19:17.66/41st) comprised IPFW's top five finishers. The women finished fifth of fourteen teams defeating Ohio State for the first time ever, as well as Summit League foe Oakland University.
The teams will fly to Malibu, California to compete in their next meet, the Pepperdine Invitational, on September 22, 2007.
