Indianapolis, IN-The women's track team participated in the Butler Twilight Meet over the weekend, their final regular season meet of the year.  Crystal Martinez was IPFW's lone individual champion in the non-team scoring meet.

Crystal and Crystina Martinez crossed the line in the 3,000m steeplechase just three seconds apart to secure the 1-2 finish.  Crystal's time of 10:52.25 is a 21-second improvement of her personal best, and just two seconds shy of the NCAA Regional qualifying mark which she hopes to meet at the Summit League Championships in two weeks.  If she is able to meet the qualifying time, she will join Crystina at the NCAA Mid-East Regional Track and Field Meet at the end of the month.  Crystina secured her place at the meet on April 6, qualifying with a time of 10:47.29.

Beth Hoekstra had a strong showing in the 800m run placing eleventh overall with a time of 2:28.46.

Freshman Jill Edmonds showed marked improvement in the triple jump, nearly matching her season best with a jump of 10.14m, as well as cleanly executing all of her attempts for the first time this year.

Coach Fruchey was very pleased with the womens' performance at the Twilight Meet and is looking to the future, "I am really excited and looking forward to the Summit League Championships in two weeks".  

The women will take next week off to rest up for the Summit League Championships.  The outdoor conference championship will take place on May 15-17 in Macomb, Illinois.
