
`Dons Fall in Shamrock Finale

Notre Dame, IN - IPFW fell to 0-3 on the 2008 season after a three-set loss to the Wolf Pack of Nevada by scores of 25-17, 28-26 and 25-20.
Rebekah Roehm had her second consecutive kill/dig double-double of the season with 12 kills and 16 digs. Jessica Miller added 11 kills, giving her 32 for the season, as she becomes the fourth player in IPFW's Division I era to eclipse the 1,000-kill plateau for her career.
IPFW jumped out to a quick 4-2 lead before the Wolf Pack ran off eight of the next ten points to push ahead by a 10-6 score. Nevada kept their foot on the gas pedal throughout the middle of the set, increasing their lead to as many as nine at 20-11 and 23-14. At the second nine-point deficit, IPFW rattled off three straight points to cut the Wolf Pack lead to six at 23-17 before Nevada scored the final two points to take a 25-17 set victory.
Roehm and Dillon each had three first-set kills for the `Dons, with Roehm and Christine Simon each picking up five digs. Jessica Dominiak dished out nine assists and had four digs, as Roehm had the team's only service ace of the set.
Nevada kept their momentum into the second set, scoring the first four points of the frame, and opened a six point lead at 18-12. IPFW clawed back, using an immediate 2-0 run to cut the deficit to four, and later a 3-0 run to close to within two at 22-20. Down 24-21, the `Dons scored four straight points to lead 25-24 and served for match point before Nevada scored two straight points to put themselves in position for another set point. A Schlindwein kill knotted the set at 26 apiece before a pair of points by the Wolf Pack sent the hosts on the scoreboard into the locker room at the break after a 28-26 victory.
Miller dominated the second set with seven of the team's 21 kills, with Schlindwein adding five and Roehm three. Dominiak dished out 19 assists, as Roehm picked up six digs, giving her 11 in the match through the second set.
The third set was a tightly contested battle through the first 24 points, with Nevada leading 13-11 before the Wolf Pack rattled off six consecutive points to open a 19-11 advantage. After each team put a point on the scoreboard, taking the score to 20-12, the Dons scored three straight points on a kills by Roehm and Schlindwein, and a combo block by the aforementioned pair. The teams traded points until Nevada was serving for the set at 24-17 when IPFW used kills from Roehm, Ashley Dillon and Roehm, respectively, to cut the deficit to 24-20 before Nevada senior Allison Hernandez ended the match with a kill.
Dominiak finished the match with 37 assists, with Schlindwein finishing two kills shy of double figures in the statistic. Roehm's 16 digs was a team-high, as Jamie Schwartz added 10 in the loss. Roehm and Schlindwein had three and two blocks, respectively.
Hernandez finished with a match-high 13 kills, with Kylie Harrington putting down 10 for the Wolf Pack. Four Nevada players recorded double-figure dig to totals, led by Nicole Link's 17.
The `Dons look to regroup from their slow start at the Belmont Invitational in Nashville, Tennessee, where they will face off against Furman on September 5 and against Belmont and Murray State on Saturday, September 6.
