
Fort Wayne native Connor Andrews signed his National Letter of Intent

Fort Wayne, Ind.- The IPFW men's tennis team added local high school standout Connor Andrews for the 2011-2012 academic school year after he signed his National Letter of Intent to play for the Mastodons, it was announced by head coach, Eric Burns, today (Nov. 18).
Andrew currently attends Homestead High School where he has been a top tennis player for the Spartans. He has been a member on the team all four years of his high school career, while the last three years consisted of him playing at the No. 1 singles position.
The Fort Wayne native is ranked No. 1 in the USTA Northern Indiana District Boys 18-and-under Singles.
“I'm excited to sign a great local player like Connor,” Burns said. “It is always good to be able to get the best Fort Wayne players.”
His highest ranking in the USTA Midwest section is No. 30 in Boys 18-and-under Singles. Andrews has been a member of the Northern Indiana Junior Cup Team for the past three years. He is also a member of the Indiana All-Star Team and is a two-time Second Team All-State honoree (2010 and 2008). In 2009, Andrews placed third at the IHSAA State Tournament as well as being The News-Sentinel PrepSports Player of the Year and a member of First Team All- State.
“My focus with this recruiting class was to find a good Midwest player and I think we have found this with Connor,” Burns said. “I expect he will come in and help us immediately next season,” Burns said. “I'm glad he chose IPFW to continue his career.”
