
Men's Tennis Falls in Summit League Championship

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The IPFW men's tennis team fell to nationally ranked Denver in the finals of the 2015 Summit League Tournament by a 4-0 score on Sunday afternoon.
The Mastodons end the season with a 16-12 overall record, and advanced to the Summit League title match for the second straight season.
Denver opened quickly with an 8-3 win at No. 3 pairs, before the Pioneers won 8-4 at No. 2 doubles. At No. 1 doubles, Gerard Guell and Martin Muadi was trailing the No. 40 ranked doubles team in the country 6-5 when the pairing was halted with Denver earning the point.
Carlos do Val fell 6-0, 6-1 at No. 3 singles as Denver jumped ahead 2-0 before the pair of Denver nationally ranked singles players at No. 1 and No. 2 out-lasted IPFW's top two singles players. Gerard Guell fell 6-3, 6-2 to 113th ranked Henry Craig, before Andres Cobos dropped a 6-3, 6-3 decision to 109th ranked Diogo Rocha.
With the match being played to decision, half of IPFW's singles matches went unfinished , including two matches - at No. 5 with Muadi and No. 6 with Karl Wangensten-Oye - where IPFW was leading in the second set.Â
