
Mastodon Trio Earn All-League Honors

ELMHURST, Ill. - A trio of IPFW tennis players - Andres Cobos, Gerard Guell, and Karl Wangensten-Oye - have been named to the All-Summit League team for the 2015 season.
IPFW is 14-11 on the season, and has earned the third seed in the upcoming Summit League Championships, played in Fort Wayne.
Cobos, a senior, picks up his first Summit League honor, and finished the regular season with a 22-15 record, and a 4-2 mark in Summit League action. He was 11-8 at No. 2 singles, and 4-1 at No. 3. In doubles he was 18-8 on the season, with a perfect 5-0 record in Summit League matches. Over the past month he has climbed into the top spot in the school record book for doubles wins and total wins (doubles and singles combined).
Guell, a junior and three-time All-League honoree, played the entire spring for IPFW at No. 1 singles, and had a 13-11 mark overall, while going 5-1 in Summit League contests. He finished 21-16 in doubles, including teaming with Martin Muadi for a 10-8 record at No. 1 pairs.
Wangensten-Oye, a sophomore who is earning his first All-League honor, finished the season with a team-high 27 singles wins, and was 5-1 in Summit League play in singles matches. He went 18-5 during the spring, including an 8-0 mark at No. 5 singles and 10-5 at No. 6. He also added seven doubles wins to his resume during the season.
The Mastodons open the Summit League Tournament at 10 a.m. on Friday morning, in a match against the Western Illinois Leathernecks to be played at the Dr. Rudy and Rhonda Kachmann Tennis Center.
