Fort Wayne, IN - The IPFW women's tennis team was named ITA All-Academic Team while also receiving four Scholar-Athlete awards. Two members of the men's tennis team also earned Scholar-Athletes awards.
The ITA All-Academic Team is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above (on a 4.00 scale).
ITA Scholar-Athletes must be a varsity letter winner, have a GPA of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year and have been enrolled at his or her present school for at least two semesters.
Former Mastodons Ingrid Ballus and Yuka Kobayashi along with seniors Alex Forsyth and Frederique Sunstrum earned the honor for the women's team. IPFW's junior Junya Saruta and sophomore Tim Saltys made the list from the men's team.
Last season, the Mastodons had four women and four men make the list.
The women's team will start their fall schedule at the Bowling Green Invitational (Sept. 17-18) while the men play in the Michigan State Invitational (Sept. 16-18).
