Jeszenszky Keeps Climbing All-Time List

PEORIA, Ill. - Two weeks after running the fourth-fastest 5,000-meter time in school history, IPFW junior Julia Jeszenszky ran the third-fastest 6,000-meter time at the Bradley University Cross Country Classic.
The Mastodons placed 15th of 23 teams in the event with 364 points. Illinois State took home the top team honors with 102 points, while Saint Louis placed second with 114 points. Southern Illinois (115), Bradley (169), Marquette (172), Bowling Green (173), Northwestern (219), Northern Iowa (243), Eastern Illinois (251), UAB (269), Drake (298), Oakland (323), IUPUI (327), and Northern Illinois (334) finished ahead of the Mastodons. Western Michigan (448), Green Bay (495), Creighton (545), DePaul (578), Illinois (582), and Milwaukee (659) finished behind the 'Dons.
Jeszenszky's time of 21:47 is six seconds faster than the time that Ashley Ritchey ran at the NCAA Pre-National Meet in Terre Haute, Ind., a time of 21:53.
Katie Simmons narrowly missed climbing into the top-10 list by placing 81st in a time of 22:41. Andrea Bell finished eight places later with a time of 22:46, just ahead of Kayla Boyes who placed 90th in a time of 22:47. Amaya Ayers rounded out the scoring five for IPFW by placing 112nd with a time of 23:00.
Anna Reibs (23:12) and Jordan Tomecek (23:36) placed 129th and 150th, respectively, as Rebecca Jacobs (173rd/24:04) and Alexa Brown (201st/25:11).
The Mastodons next travel to Rochester, Mich., to compete in the 2012 Summit League Championships on October 27.
