Cross Country Begins Season with Mastodon Alumni Open

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The Purdue Fort Wayne cross country programs open the 2025 season at home, hosting the Mastodon Alumni Open on Saturday (Sept. 6). The meet will be held at the Mastodon Cross Country Course, the location of the 2025 Horizon League Cross Country Championships. Parking for the Mastodon Alumni Open will cost $5, and can be purchased at this link

The Mastodons return their top-five finishers from the 2024 #HLXC Championships, where they took third at the meet. Riley Tate earned a spot on the First Team All-Horizon League team after finishing sixth. Ava Genovese earned a spot on the Second Team All-Horizon League squad, placing ninth at the meet. Lydia Carrell and Haylee Hile finished in 20th and 21st, and Faith Norris rounded out the Don's finish in 31st.

The Mastodons placed sixth at the 2024 #HLXC Championships. The 'Dons return their top-two finishers from last season, seniors Harrison Niswander (17th) and Austin Hall (24th).

Ava Milligan will also see her first collegiate cross country action after being sidelined last season with an injury. The men will have three new faces competing on Saturday: Braydn Livingston, Kale Seymour and Jack Strong.
