'Dons Look to Even Record Tuesday Evening

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The IPFW Mastodons will look to get back to an even .500 on Tuesday evening when the squad hosts the Rochester Warriors in the second game of a women's / men's doubleheader.

SCOUTING THE WARRIORS
Rochester comes into the Tuesday evening game with a 6-1 overall record, including a narrow exhibition loss to the Kent State Golden Flashes.
By the time the Mastodons and Warriors face off, Rochester will have played nine contests, with the team's only losses coming in an exhibition to Kent State and a 66-52 loss to Eastern Michigan.
The experienced squad with four senior starters is led by Dramell Hogan who leads the team in scoring (17.7 points per game) and rebounding (8.0). Drew Maynard averages 13.6 points, while Brad Norman scores 11.6 tallies per contest. Stavros Schizas averages 9.6 points as the only non-senior in the starting lineup, with Sean Mattia dishing out 2.7 assists per game.
Hogan and Maynard pull down 8.0 and 7.9 rebounds per game, as Zef Deda dishes out 3.3 assists per game to lead the team.
COLLEGE SPORTS MADNESS SUMMIT LEAGUE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
IPFW senior guard Frank Gaines has been named the College Sports Madness Summit League Player of the Week announced on Monday afternoon.
Gaines scored a league-best 32 points in the opening game of the season, a new career-high for the Fort Lauderdale, Fla. native, which also pushed him past David Simon into sixth in the school's career record book. He hit 10-of-18 shots from the field, 3-of-8 from long range, and 9-of-11 from the charity stripe.
He added three rebounds, two steals and an assist, as the 'Dons narrowly fell to the Auburn Tigers 61-50.
HIGH SCORER
According to the final NCAA Statistical rankings from the 2011-12 season, now-IPFW senior Frank Gaines ended the year ranked ninth in the country in points per game, averaging 21.2 per contest. He had reached the 20-point plateau in 19 of the team's 30 games during the season, including scoring a career-high 30 points against Western Illinois on January 7, at Oakland on February 11, at Eastern Kentucky on February 18, and at South Dakota on February 23. In all, the Summit League had five scorers inside of the top-19 overall, with Oakland's Reggie Hamilton leading the nation. At the end of the year, there were 15 players averaging over 20 points per game, over one quarter of those coming from the Summit League. ALL-TIME SERIES
IPFW and Rochester have met one time prior to the Tuesday evening match-up, a 77-44 IPFW win in 2006. In that game, DeWitt Scott went 8-of-11 from long range, scoring a game-high 24 points, while also dishing out four assists in 22 minutes of action. Jakari Johnson and Quintin Carouthers scored 11 and 10 points, as the 13 Mastodons saw action in the game.
