Rosado Scores 17 Points in Loss to UMKC

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The women's basketball team was defeated by the UMKC Kangaroos on Saturday afternoon by the final score of 79-62. Stephanie Rosado led IPFW with a team-high 17 points.
Rosado added eight rebounds and an assist to her stat line on Saturday. Sarah Haluska was the other Mastodon in double figure scoring as she ended the day with 11 points and five rebounds. Amanda Hyde, Anne Boese, and Rachel Mauk all added eight, while Erin Murphy chipped in with seven.
Dayon Hall-Jones was the game-high scorer on Saturday. Hall-Jones scored 25 points, 16 of which came in the first half. Kim Nezianya and Eilise O'Connor were also in double figure scoring for UMKC.
IPFW faced a 40-29 deficit at the half. UMKC shot 42 percent from the floor and drained all seven of their field goal attempts. The 'Dons were held to shooting just 34 percent and only got to the line twice.
Stephanie Rosado hurt the Kangaroos inside and out. Rosado scored the first field goal of the game for IPFW. After an Anne Boese three-pointer it was Rosado once again scoring for the 'Dons. Rosado stepped behind the arc for her next two field goals as she ended the first half 2-for-2 from long range. Amanda Hyde and Boese each chipped in with six points in the opening half.
Dayon Hall-Jones led all scores at the break with 16 off 6-of-12 shooting. Hall-Jones was perfect from the line (3-for-3) and added a triple in the first 20 minutes of action.
Sarah Haluska scored the final bucket of the first half at the buzzer and she stayed hot scoring IPFW's first six points of the second half.
UMKC led by as many as 23 points, but the Mastodons continued to play hard for all 40 minutes. The Kangaroos crashed the boards, recording 51 compared to just 32 for IPFW. The Mastodons also struggled from the field as they ended the game 21-of-60 from the floor (35%).
The regular season finale will be the next game on the schedule for IPFW. The Dakota Dome will host the matchup between the Mastodons and the Coyotes. Tip is scheduled for 8:00 p.m.
