
Women’s Track and Field Finishes 9th in 2012 Summit League Championships

FORT WAYNE, Ind. -- The IPFW relay teams performed well at the 2012 Summit League Indoor Track and Field Championships. The distance medley relay team scored three points on Friday, while the 4x400 meter relay team chipped in with one point on Saturday.
North Dakota State won the championship on the women's side with 206 points. South Dakota placed second with 115 points, and Southern Utah rounded out the top three with 80.
The 4x400 team consisted of Katy Moore, Kaylin Taylor, Julie Jeszenszky and Kayla Boyes. They finished third overall with a time of 4:05.66. Moore was also active in the high jump. She just missed scoring by clearing a height of 5-1.75. That mark put her in a tie for sixth place.
Boyes placed fourth in the first heat of the mile run on Saturday. Boyes crossed the line at 5:14.20. Sarah Hutchings was also in action for IPFW. Hutchings ran in heat two and placed 10th with a time of 5:11.92. Hutchings's other event on Saturday was the 3000-meter run. She placed 12th overall with a time of 17:44.24.
Kayla Zink placed sixth in the first flight of the women's shot put. Zink's final throw was her best as she reached 39-7.25 (12.07m). Courtney Bowen was also in action for IPFW in the shot put. Her distance of 34-10.25 placed her in 11th (Flight 1).
Theresa McHugh was another Mastodon in action off the track. McHugh placed seventh in the first flight of the triple jump. She recorded a distance of 33-4.50 (10.17m).
