New School Records Set at Mastodon Invitational

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Katy Moore and Kayla Zink each set a school record on Saturday in their respective events as IPFW hosted the 2012 Mastodon Invitational. There was no team scoring at the meet.
Katy Moore earned a first place finish and set a new school record in the high jump by clearing 5-4 ¼. (1.63m). Moore also placed third in the 800-meter run (2:24.25) and ran a leg on the winning 4x400-meter relay team.
Kayla Zink was the other Mastodon to set a new school record. Zink took second place in the shot put event with a throw of 41-9 ¼ (12.73m).
Kaylin Taylor, Rylee Sullivan and Nicole Urdahl joined Moore in the 4x400-meter relay. The group won the race with a time of 4:15.87. Taylor also placed first overall in the 400-meter dash. She crossed the finish line at 1:00.85.
Julie Jeszenszky was the top finisher in the 800-meter run. Jeszensky won with a time of 2:21.25. Teammate Kayla Boyes was close behind in second with a time of 2:22.10.
Sarah Hutchings ran well on Saturday afternoon. She ended the day with a first place finish in the mile as well as in the 3000-meter run. Her mile time of 5:13.32 was the best of the day, and her 3000-meter time of 10:33.18 easily placed her on top.
Jordan Tomecek took second place in the 3000m (10:49.21) and Amaya Ayers rounded out the effort with a fourth place finish (10:59.12). Tomecek was also active in the 5000-meter run. She placed second clocking in at 10:08.65.
