WARSAW, Ind. - The IPFW women's tennis team edged Southeast Missouri State, 4-3, on Saturday at the YMCA in Warsaw, Ind., in its lone match of the weekend.

With the win, the Mastodons are now 7-7 on the dual season while the Redhawks fall to 1-5.

The day started off with doubles play that would ultimately determine the match. The 'Dons grabbed wins at Nos. 1 and 3 to earn the doubles point and grabbed the early lead over the Redhawks.

The IPFW tandem of Marcy Huck and Caterina Kiefer had an 8-4 win at the No. 1 spot, while Raquel Vescovi and Frederique Sunstrum paired up at the No. 3 position where they earned an 8-2 victory.

In singles action, the Mastodons claimed Nos. 1, 3 and 6 to seal the team victory.

Anita Henestrosa dominated the No. 1 position and was able to pick up a 6-2, 6-0 win. In a three-set match, Vescovi dropped the first set, 2-6, but bounced back with 6-4 wins in the last two sets at the No. 3 position. By a large margin, Sunstrum took down the No. 6 slot, 6-1, 6-0.

The Mastodons will now head to Glendale, Ariz., where they will have a doubleheader on Tuesday (March 13). They will face Mesa Community College at 3:30 p.m. (EST) and then take on Glendale Community College at 6:30 p.m. (EST).
