Mastodons Net Senior Day Victory over Bonnies 5-2

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - In the final home match of the season for seniors Alex Forsyth, Frederique Sunstrum and Raquel Vescovi, the Mastodons (16-9, 7-1) defeated the St. Bonaventure Bonnies (9-8, 0-4) 5-2 at the Pine Ridge Racquet and Fitness Club in Fort Wayne, Ind., on Sunday.
The three seniors helped lead the 'Dons to a sweep of the Bonnies in doubles action and then claimed two of the four wins in singles play.
The tandem of Marcy Huck and Caterina Kiefer won 8-3 at the No. 1 slot. The remaining doubles positions each won 8-6 with Forsyth and Anita Henestrosa winning at No. 2 and Sunstrum and Vescovi claiming the No. 3 slot.
Vescovi (No. 3) and Forsyth (No. 6) each earned 6-2, 6-1 victories while Sunstrum fell in a three-set match, 3-6, 6-2, 6-0 at No. 4. Henestrosa claimed the No. 1 position against the Bonnies with a 6-1, 6-4 win while Kiefer won by a 6-4, 6-3 count at No. 4.
The Mastodons will return to action in a week when they take on the Dayton Flyers on March 9 in Dayton, Ohio at 3 p.m.
