Men's Tennis Knocked Out in League Semifinals with a 4-1 Loss to IUPUI

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The IPFW men's tennis team saw its best season in school history, thus far, come to an end on Friday evening after falling to IUPUI 4-1 in the Summit League semifinals at the Woodside Country Club in Kansas City, Mo.
With doubles play starting the match, IUPUI earned the early 1-0 lead after picking up wins at Nos. 2 and 1, respectively.
At the No. 2 slot, the Mastodon duo of Daniel Kang and Joao Freitas suffered an 8-3 loss to Joel Modesitt and Nick Volz. The Jaguars followed with an 8-4 win over Roberto Cabrini and Connor Andrews by Patrick O'Neill and Luke Bielawski at the No. 1 position for the doubles point.
In singles action, the 'Dons fell in the first match at the No. 3 slot when Andres Cobos lost by a 6-1, 6-1 count against Bielawski to give the Jags the 2-0 lead.
Cabrini moved the Mastodons within one of the Jaguars after he defeated Mojsejev, 6-1, 6-3, at the No. 1 position.
However, IUPUI fired back with a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 5 by Deon Shafer over Freitas, followed by a 6-2, 6-3 win over IPFW's Martin Muadi at the No. 6 position by Louis Sacks to give the Jaguars the 4-1 final score.
The Mastodons end the season 12-11 overall. The Jaguars move to 10-15 and advance on to the Summit League Championship where they will face UMKC tomorrow.
