
Olympian Emmy Kaiser Wins IPFW Open Singles Title

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - 2012 Olympian Emmy Kaiser won the open singles championship, and the team of Kaiser and Thomas Kyler picked up the open doubles championship at the 2012 IPFW Open presented by Turnstone.
This season was the fifth year that IPFW tennis and Turnstone co-sponsored the wheelchair tennis event, which is a United States Tennis Association (USTA) sanctioned prize money event, and is the only sanctioned wheelchair tennis tournament in the state.
For the second straight year the event was held at Concordia Lutheran High School, and featured some of the top players in wheelchair tennis, including Kaiser. This years' record-high 28 participants competed in four singles divisions - Open, B, C, and D - and three doubles - Open, B, and C.
There was a total purse of $2,500, and the draw for the tournament saw competitors from the USTA's Midwest section, as well as from Kentucky, Iowa, and California.
Sponsors for the event include Dr. Rudy and Rhonda Kachmann, Penn Station, Casa Ristorante Italiano, Mobility SVM; and also had numerous volunteers that helped to make the event successful.
