DETROIT, Mich. - The IPFW Mastodons fell in their 2012 season opener, dropping the first match of the season by a 3-0 score against the Detroit Titans.

Detroit (1-1-0) wasted little time in finding the back of the net when Lepera scored the first of his two goals of the match in the seventh minute of the game, giving the hosts a 1-0 lead.

The Mastodons threatened back with two shots and a corner kick over the next five minutes, but could not connect in the half, sending the teams into the locker room with Detroit leading 1-0.

Kevin Pinkos wasted little time to start the second half when he gave the Titans a 2-0 lead in the 46th minute of the contest, before the hosts added the third and final goal of the match in the 77th minute.

IPFW attempted seven shots in the game, just two on goal, while Detroit put up eight shot attempts, five of those on goal. Jackson Tooke and Nate Shipman each had two shots for the Mastodons.

Sophomore Brandon Cloutier spent the first 86 minutes of the game in the goal, while Will Brown played the last four minutes, each of the two picking up one save.

The Mastodons return to action on Wednesday, August 29 when the squad travels to Kalamazoo, Mich. to take on the Western Michigan Broncos in a 4 p.m. kickoff.
