
Women's Volleyball to Host IUPUI Tuesday Night

FORT WAYNE, Ind. -- The IPFW women's volleyball team will return to the Gates Sports Center after two road games to face the IUPUI Jaguars in the Summit League home opener. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m.
ABOUT IPFW
The IPFW Mastodons will try to even their Summit League record on Tuesday night after falling to the Oakland Golden Grizzlies over the weekend 2-3. Kendall Wienkes set new career-high totals in blocks (6) and attack points (25.5) over the weekend while tying her career-high kill total of 20 against Central Michigan.
Tessa McGill is now sixth in Summit League history with 1,854 career digs. The senior recorded 16 digs on Saturday which marked the 13th time she had reached a double figure dig total this season, and the 85th time of her career.
SCOUTING THE JAGUARS
The Jaguars are 8-5 overall with a 2-0 mark in the Summit League after defeating UMKC (3-1) and South Dakota (3-1) this past weekend. IPFW and IUPUI have faced two common opponents in Ball State and Wright State. The Jags defeated Wright State 3-0, but were defeated by Ball State 0-3. IUPUI is on a two game win streak, but they are still searching for their first road win of the season.
The Jaguars have four student-athletes with 100 kills or more. Moriah Fair is currently leading the team with 146, an average of 3.11 kills per set. Kelsey Hoefer is close behind with 135 kills, she averages 2.81 per set and posts a percentage of .270. Bethany Fogler has the best attack percentage on the team at .340 and she is also the team leader in blocks with 49.
Alexis Meeks and Ellyn Jones are both over the 200 mark in the assist category. Jones leads the team with 295, while Meeks is second with 201. Jones also is also the team's service ace leader with 12. IUPUI has four players with 100 digs or more. Beth Howard is the team leader with 222 and Kaitlyn Hickey is close behind with 178.
ALL-TIME SERIES
IPFW leads IUPUI in the all-time series 22-13. The 'Dons have won the last five meetings and are 11-6 against the Jaguars under head coach Kelley Hartley Hutton.
The first meeting between IPFW and IUPUI was played on Oct. 26, 1978 as the Mastodons recorded a 2-0 win 15-8, 15-9. IUPUI recorded their first win in the series during the 1980 season, claiming a 2-1 victory.
CHASING RECORDS
Tessa McGill started the 2012 season ranked fourth all-time at IPFW with 1,569 career digs. After the opening weekend McGill was able to pass Julie Parrot (4th - 1,583) and Laura Douglas (3rd - 1,625) to move into second all-time. She now has 1,854 digs as she tries to catch Peachy Jankowski, the all-time leader, who recorded 2,253 digs while at IPFW.
QUICK HITTERS
• Tessa McGill moved to sixth place all-time in Summit League history with 1,854 career digs, passing Lauren Duquette of Oakland (1,841). McGill is closing in on fifth place (1,887 - Sara Silcox, Valparaiso).
• Kendall Wienkes recorded her first double-double of the season against Oakland by recording 15 digs and 14 kills. She tied her career-high kill total of 20 the following night against the Central Michigan Chippewas.
• IPFW has won the last five meetings over IUPUI.
• Jen Milligan recorded a season-high 21 digs at Oakland which is just under her career-high total of 23.
• Kendall Wienkes set new career-high totals in blocks with six, and in attack points with 25.5 over the weekend.
• The Michigan State Spartans are now ranked 25th in the nation. IPFW took the Spartans to five sets on Sept. 7.
• Megan Steenhuysen set a new season-high mark with 55 assists against the Oakland Golden Grizzlies.
• Hailie Ripley tied her career-high kill total with 13 against Oakland.
• Emily Spencer recorded her seventh double-double of the season at Oakland. The sophomore now has 28 in her career.
• Tessa McGill recorded 16 digs on Saturday marking the 13th time she has reached double figures this season and the 85th time she has reached double digits in her career.
• Jessie Manwaring set new career-high totals in kills (18), blocks (9), and attack points (23) against the Georgia Bulldogs.
• IPFW was picked to finish second in the 2012 Summit League preseason poll. IUPUI was picked to finish fifth.
