
Women's Tennis Closes Fall Season at Bronco Invitational

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The IPFW Mastodons completed their 2013 Fall Season on Saturday afternoon, as the split squad competed at the Bronco Invitational hosted by Western Michigan University.
Sofia Sorokina went 1-1 on the final day in singles action, winning the second round of the Silver Singles draw over Maxime Colen by a 6-3, 6-2 score, before falling 6-1, 6-1 to Barbare Eristavi of Western Michigan, to finish the Silver Singles draw with a 1-2 overall record.
Ella Norgren fell in a pair of tiebreaking sets, falling 6-3, 5-7, 1-0 (10-8) against Vanessa Whyte of IUPUI, before falling to Detroit's Julia Fernandes by a 2-6, 6-4, 1-0 (7-5) score in the tiebreaker.
In doubles play, the duo of Norgren and Carlota Trevino fell 8-5 to the squad of Katherine White and Darby Mountford of Notre Dame, before closing the tournament with an 8-4 loss to Whyte and Rachel Swartwood of IUPUI.
Sorokina teamed up with Notre Dame's Alaina Roberts to top the Oakland pair of Rebecca Phyle and Juliana Guevara by an 8-4 score.
