Mastodons Take on Indiana in Home Opener

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The IPFW women's basketball team kicks off their home schedule as they host Indiana University tonight, November 12 at 7 p.m. The 'Dons look to pick up their first win of the young season after falling in their first game of the Preseason WNIT to Wichita State.

Scouting the Hoosiers
Indiana won their opening game of the season over former Summit League member Oakland 85-55. Freshman Larryn Brooks led all scorers with 19 points as Tabitha Gerardot added 14 for Indiana.
The Hoosiers return six players from a 2012-13 squad that went 11-19 under then first-year head coach Curt Miller. Indiana did loose their top three scoeres from last year's squad as Sasga Chaplin is their leading returner, averaging 6.1 points. Indiana also returns Milika Taufa who tied for the team lead in blocks and was second in rebounds per game.
Indiana has eight newcomers on the team, including Fort Wayne native Tabitha Gerardot who played three years at Valpariaso. While there, Gerardot started 91 of 93 contests and compiled 1,215 career points and 732 career rebounds.
All-Time Series
Indiana leads the all-time series with the Mastodons 2-0. The Hoosiers won last years game in Bloomington 64-47 on November 26. The 'Dons nearly knocked off the Big Ten school the last time the teams met in Fort Wayne on December 10, 2006 as IPFW fell 69-68.
