SCOUTING THE COUGARS
The Cougars are coming off a 76-55 win over Air Force as part of the Air Force Classic and snapping a five game losing
streak. Besides the Mastodons, SIUE have also dropped games to SEC member Missouri and Big 12 opponent Kansas. Their schedule this season consists of eight teams that advanced to postseason play in 2012-13 (three to the NCAA, three to the WNIT and two to the WBI).
SIUE is a young squad this season with eight players on the roster who are either freshman or sophomores, but do
return three starters from a season ago. Austin leads the Cougars after being tabbed as a member of the 2013-14
preseason All-Ohio Valley Conference women's basketball team. She currently leads the team with 12.1 points per
game, however the 'Dons held her to just eight points in their first meeting.
ALL-TIME SERIES
SIUE leads the all-time series 10-8, but the Mastodons took their matchup earlier this season, winning by 17 points.
SIUE swpet both matchups last season, 74-67 in Fort Wayne and 61-54 in Edwardsville. The 'Dons are 5-5 all-time
at home, having lost the last two meetings in the Gates Sports Center. The last time IPFW won at home was a 68-56
decision on February 1, 2001 when both schools were playing in Division II and a part of the GLVC.
