FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The IPFW women's tennis team will host the Evansville Purple Aces on Saturday, Feb. 2 at the Pine Ridge Racquet and Fitness Club. The event will begin at 2 p.m.
The Mastodons are off to a 0-2 start to the season after losing 3-4 at Toledo in the season opener and 2-5 vs. Eastern Michigan last weekend. The Purple Aces are 1-1 after losing 3-4 vs. Eastern Illinois on opening weekend, but they came back to earn a 6-1 win over Lipscomb last weekend.
Anita Henestrosa and Caterina Kiefer are each 1-1 on the year in singles action, but when they team up in No. 1 Doubles they are 2-0. Henestrosa plays at No. 1 Singles for IPFW, and Kiefer represents the No. 2 Singles slot.
Miloslava Shustova has also got off to a nice start for IPFW. Shustova is 2-0 on the year and also has a doubles record of 1-1.
Evansville earned victories in five out of six flights in singles action vs. Lipscomb. They also earned the doubles point as Natasha James and Marketa Trousilova won 8-2 in No. 1 Doubles and Marina Moreno and Kelsey Costales iced the win with an 8-5 victory in No. 3 Doubles.
