Softball Travels to New Mexico for Five-Game Tournament

LOBO CLASSIC TOURNAMENT CENTRAL
FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The IPFW softball team heads to Albuquerque, N.M. to compete in the University of New Mexico Lobo Classic, where the squad will face off against Bradley, Hampton, Central Michigan, and New Mexico.

ABOUT IPFW
The Mastodons head into the tournament with an even 2-2 record, falling to Indiana State and Northern Colorado, while topping tournament host Iowa State and North Dakota.
For the year the team is led offensively by pitchers Megan Flenniken and Miranda Kramer, who are hitting .545 and .455, each. Ashleigh Bousquet is hitting .357 this season, while Audrey Mintari is hitting .333. Kramer and Bousquet each have a team-high four RBI's, while Bousquet has scored four times.
Flenniken is leading the three-person pitching staff with a 1-1 record and a 3.46 ERA. She has 13 strikeouts in 13 innings of work. Kramer is also 1-1, has a 6.30 ERA, and 14 strikeouts in 10 innings.
SCOUTING THE BRAVES
Bradley comes into the first game of the Lobo Classic with a 2-3 overall record at the Kajikawa Classic in Tempe, Arizona. The Braves fell to No. 20 Stanford, #4 Arizona State, and Indiana, while topping Portland State and No. 13 Arizona.
Bailiegh Basham is hitting .400 for the squad, with three runs scored, one home run, and two RBI's. Alyson Clemente is hitting .385 with two RBI's, while Alex Chandler is hitting .333.
Leading the pitching staff has been Madeline Lynch-Crumrine, who has pitched 25.1 of the team's 32 innings this season, and has a 1.66 ERA and a 2-1 record. She has 16 strikeouts in her 25-plus innings this year, while opponents hit just .186 against her.
SCOUTING THE PIRATES
Hampton comes into the weekend looking for their first win of the season after falling to LSU, North Carolina, Purdue, and Tulsa.
Over the weekend in Baton Rouge, La., Hampton recorded just 13 hits, and batted .149 as a team while giving up an opponents batting average of .361. Bianca Vallejo leads the team with a .273 average, while Adrianna Scott has one home run, and has driven in two of the team's three runs this season.
Three Pirate pitchers, Jailynn Jackson, Bobbi Langlois, and Jecholia Pratt have combined to allow a 8.61 ERA. Jackson leads the group with seven strikeouts in 12.2 innings of work while walking 13, throwing eight wild pitches, and has an 0-1 record. Langlois (8.0 innings) and Pratt (2.1 innings) each have one strikeout and four free passes.
SCOUTING THE CHIPPEWAS
This tournament marks the opening of the 2013 season for Central Michigan.
Last season Central Michigan finished the year with a 30-27 record, despite falling twice to the Mastodons in Michigan. Back for the Chippewas is Macy Merchant who led the team with a .350 batting average and 14 stolen bases.
The pitching staff returns senior pitcher Kara Dornbos, who went 15-15 last season with a 2.03 ERA and 102 strikeouts in 183 innings of work.
SCOUTING THE LOBOS
New Mexico comes into the tournament looking for their first win of the season, after falling to Creighton, Arizona State, Cal Poly, San Jose, Oklahoma, Nebraska, and New Mexico State.
Mariah Rimmer leads the team in batting with a .316 average, and has scored half of the team's four runs this year, while driving in one. Rimmer has nabbed four stolen bases, has walked twice, and has a .381 on-base percentage.
Five pitchers have seen time for the tournament host. Lisa Rodrigues has a team-best 10 strikeouts in 15.1 innings of work, while also walking 19. As a team, the Lobos have a 9.00 ERA with 26 strikeouts in 40 innings of work, while walking 32, and hitting 11 others by pitch.
