Final Results vs. Trine
FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The IPFW women's tennis team lost 4-3 vs. Youngstown State, but came back with a 7-0 win over Trine on Sunday afternoon at the Pine Ridge Racquet and Fitness Club. The Mastodons are now 6-4 overall.
IPFW earned the doubles point against Youngstown State. The team of Marcy Huck and Kristine Lindal recorded the first win of the day with an 8-1 victory in No. 2 Doubles. The Penguins tied things up with an 8-5 win in No. 3 Doubles, but Anita Henestrosa and Caterina Kiefer came up clutch for IPFW by winning No. 1 Doubles 8-5.
The deciding factor in singles play came down to the match between Annina Brendel and Neumeyr. Brendel defeated Neumeyr 6-4, 2-6, 6-4 in No. 6 Singles to win the match for YSU. Shustova and Huck each won their matchups, but Henestrosa, Kiefer, and Lindal were all defeated.
Shustova won 6-4, 6-0 in No. 4 Singles and Huck defeated Carolyn Jeski 6-3, 6-0 in No. 5 Singles. Kiefer put up a good fight in No. 2 Singles, but she was ultimately defeated 6-4, 2-6, 6-3.
IPFW made quick work of their second opponent as each doubles team won 8-0. Singles play was similar as each player recorded 6-0, 6-0 wins except for Sonya Sorokina and Shustova who won 6-0, 6-1.
