Dincoff Takes Second in Shot Put at 2013 Summit Championships

MUNCIE, Ind. - IPFW freshman Rachel Dincoff took second place in the shot put at the 2013 Summit League Track and Field championships hosted by IPFW on Friday afternoon.
After the second of three days in the competition, the Mastodons sit in seventh place in the field of nine teams with 11 points, as North Dakota State holds a narrow one-point margin over South Dakota, 89.5-to-88.5.
Dincoff had a best-throw of 48-3.50 in the field, three and a half inches ahead of third place, but fell short to Western Illinois' Dana LaRue to had a best toss of 52-feet, 4.5-inches. Kayla Zink placed 14th with a toss of 42-5.25, with Emily Radke (39-9.75) and Kaeleigh Porter (36-10.5) taking 18th and 20th, respectively.
Kaylin Taylor set a new school record in the 400-meter hurdles, advancing to the finals with a time of 1:04.62, while also competing in the 100-meter dash, running to a time of 12.63, missing the finals.
In the 400-meter dash, Emily Craig ran to a time of 1:02.36, missing the finals, while Julia Jeszenszky (2:23.15) and Alexa Brown (2:37.45) each missed the finals in the 800-meter run.
The 3,000-meter steeple chase saw freshman Kaitlyn Simmons place 14th in the field in a time of 12:17.59.
The Mastodons and the field return to action on Saturday beginning at 11 a.m. for the third and final day of the 2013 Summit League Championships hosted by IPFW.
