FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The IPFW Mastodon men's soccer team pulled ahead 2-1 early in the second half; however, the Dayton Flyers reached the scoreboard three times over the final 30 minutes to claim a 4-2 victory.

IPFW falls to 0-1-1 on the season with the loss, while Dayton goes to 1-0-0 on the season.

Dayton jumped out quickly, scoring five and a half minutes into the match. Both teams followed by peppering their opponent's goal, but none could find the back of the net, as the teams played the remaining 40 minutes of the opening half without a score.

The low-scoring first half was not carried over into the second, as IPFW needed just 5:05 of the second period to knot the score when Corey Tom beat his defender, dribbled to the center of the field and found a streaking Jacob Murphy for his first collegiate goal, knotting the score at one goal apiece.

Three minutes later the Flyers would find themselves down a man after a red card, and the Mastodons took advantage when Murphy and Jose Rodriguez teamed up to find Oscar Uyamadu for his second goal of the season, putting the 'Dons ahead 2-1 52:24 into the game.

It only took six minutes for Dayton to provide the equalizer when Amass Amankona found Greg Enstone for the tying goal, 60:15 into the contest. The Flyers then found the back of the net in the 79th and 83rd minutes to give the match its 4-2 final score.

Dayton out-shot IPFW 18-to-12 in the match, as Dayton goalkeeper Chris Froschauer had five saves to Raphael Kotzock's four. Uyamada and Murphy each had three shots for IPFW, while Rodriguez, Tom, and Stephen Danielian each had two shots in the losing effort.

The Mastodons return to action on Friday, September 6 in the first game of a men's / women's soccer doubleheader at the Hefner Soccer Complex.
