Individual, Doubles Team, Advance to Semifinals at Purdue

PURDUE INVITATIONAL RESULTS
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Martin Muadi has advanced to the semifinals in the "D" flight of the Purdue Invitational, while the doubles team of Derek Romer and Jonathan Raa have advanced to the semifinals of the Flight "B" Consolation bracket. In all, four other individuals and another doubles team fell in the quarterfinals at the event.
Muadi defeated Marius Merz of Green Bay by a 6-0, 6-3 score, before topping Zach Phillips of Western Michigan 6-4, 6-0. He will face off against Alex Woldmoe of Butler at 8 a.m. on Sunday morning, with the winner to play in the Flight "D" Championship.
Romer and Raa, who fell in the opening round of Flight B, have come back to top the mixed-school pair of Muncie (Chicago) and Marks (Chicago State) by an 8-1 score, before topping Sun and Ravella of Chicago by a 9-7 score. The pair will face off against Mora and Phillips of Western Michigan at 8 a.m. on Sunday morning.
Daniel Kang, who won his first match in the "A" Flight yesterday, topped fourth seeded Mark Kovacs of Purdue by a score of 6-3, 3-0, before Kovacs retired because of injury. A round later, Kang fell to David Vieyra of DePaul by a 7-5, 6-2 score in the quarterfinals of the flight.
In the "C" flight, Gerard Guell topped Chase Tomlins of Iowa by a 6-0, 6-4 score in the second round, before Nicky Wong of Toledo topped Guell 6-3, 6-1 in the quarterfinals.
Also in the "C" flight, Andres Cobos topped Butler's Brandon Woods by a 6-4, 6-1 score, before being swept 6-0, 6-1 by Ricardo Pineda of Wright State in the quarterfinals.
Romer, playing in the "E" flight, topped Eric Zishka of Washington (St. Louis) by a 6-3, 6-3 score, before falling to Case Western's James Fojtasek
Guell and Karl Wangensten-Oye advanced to the quarterfinals with a win over Mora and Phillips of Western Michigan by an 8-5 score, before falling to the pair of Scott and Merz of Green Bay by a 9-7 score.
Kang and Cobos defeated the doubles pair of Sabada and Karandikar of Chicago 8-6, before falling to the DePaul pair of Dzanko and Vieyra 8-5.
Muadi and the Romer/Raa doubles pair each continue their action on the weekend on Sunday at 8 a.m.
