Mastodons Finish Second of Three Days at Michigan State

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Two IPFW doubles pairs won their respective consolation brackets, as the Mastodons completed the second of three days at the Michigan State Spartan Invitational.
In doubles play, the pair of Mayu Sato and Miloslava Shustova, a day after dropping their only match in the "A" Flight, went on to beat Princess Gbadamosi and Victoria Bensimon of Cleveland State 8-3, before winning the consolation bracket 9-7 over Lauren Chympha and Sydney Rider of Wisconsin.
In "B" Doubles, Kristine Lindal and Marcy Huck also went 2-0 after falling to open the tournamnet, winning in a marathon-match 8-7 (5) over Katelyn Nguyen and Lauren Thai, before winning the consolation final 8-4 over Anastasia Tripolskaya of Wisconsin and Olga Chernova of Michigan State.
Sato, after going 1-1 the day before, won her only singles match of the day over Sydney Rider of Wisconsin in a 6-4, 4-6, 7-6 (5) score in the "A" Flight.
Carlota Trevino won her only match of day two with a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Jennifer Yen of Michigan State in the "B" Flight, improving to 2-1 in the tournament.
Ella Norgren fell in her only match of the evening in Flight "A" to Mariana Palacios by a 6-4, 6-2 score, as Shustova fell in a tight 7-5, 7-5 match to Kathryn Sharples of UIC.
