Mastodons Host Titans in Mid-Week Battle

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - In a battle between two teams looking for their first win of the 2013 season, the IPFW Mastodons host the Detroit Titans at the Hefner Soccer Complex on Tuesday evning.

ABOUT IPFW
The Mastodons come into the Tuesday evening meeting looking to snap out of their current eight-match losing skid.
In their last game, the Mastodons fell in a heartbreaker at Oral Roberts, as IPFW held a 1-0 lead until the Golden Eagles scored with three seconds left in regulation, and then a minute into overtime to claim the narrow victory. Jose Rodriguez scored for the Mastodons with 8:02 remaining to put IPFW ahead before the ORU comeback was completed.
On the season, the team is led by Jacob Murphy and Oscar Uyamadu who each have two goals, while three others, Rodriguez, Stephen Danielian, and Drake Bowers have each scored once. Corey Tom has dished out two assists, with Murphy, Rodriguez, and Robbie Guzman each has one assist.
Raphael Kotzock has a 2.93 goals against average with 40 saves in just under 800 minutes of action between the pipes this season.
ABOUT DETROIT
Detroit comes into the game looking for its first win of the season. With an 0-4-4 record, five of Detroit's eight matches this season have went into overtime.
In their last game, a 5-3 loss to Milwaukee, the Panthers got a four-goal output from Aaron Horvat, as the Titans got goals from Kevin Pinkos, Adam Bedell, and Tyler Moorman while assists came from Matt Ybarra, Pinkos, and Cameron Roberts. Detroit held a 2-1 lead in the match, scoring just after halftime; however, Milwaukee countered with the equalizer 32 seconds later, before adding a goal two and a half minutes later, and the eventual game-winner in the 53rd minute.

ALL-TIME SERIES
Detroit and IPFW have met on the soccer pitch every season since IPFW became an NCAA Division I member in 2001. Half of the dozen meetings have gone into overtime, including two ties. IPFW picked up a win in 2003, before topping the Titans 2-1 in 2011.
