LEXINGTON, Ky. - A scoreless first 49 minutes of the match was followed by an IPFW red card, putting the Mastodons a man down, and then three goals in a five-minute span quickly put the match out of reach, as the Kentucky Wildcats topped IPFW 4-0 in non-conference action on Sunday afternoon.
IPFW was out-shot 35-3 in the match, including getting out-shot 15-to-0 on shots on goal. IPFW's Stephen Danielian, Jose Rodriguez, and Anthony Pritchett each took shots for the Mastodons, while goalkeeper Raphael Kotzock had a career-high eight saves, with backup goalkeeper Wil Brown picking up two saves in 19 minutes of action.
After a defensive first 45 minutes of play, the opening portions of the second half started like the entire first half was played until IPFW defender Alex Kemp picked up a red card in the 49th minute. From there, Kentucky - with a man advantage - scored in the 51st, 55th, and 56th minutes to quickly put in a three-goal advantage. The fourth and final goal came in the 62nd minute, as the Wildcats ran away from the Mastodons.
Isak Krogstad scored the first two goals for Kentucky and had four points in the match, while Napo Matsoso and Charlie Reyman each found the back of the net once.
The Mastodons next take on St. Francis (Pa.) in the first game of the Qdoba Invitational hosted by Marshall on Friday, September 13 at 5 p.m.
