
Sato Splits in Main Singles to Close Fall Season

URBANA, Ill. - IPFW sophomore Mayu Sato split in her final day of the 2014 ITA Regionals, hosted by the University of Illinois.
Sato fell to Julie Vrabel of Notre Dame by scores of 6-3, 6-3, before returning in the consolation bracket for a 6-3, 6-2 win over Illinois' Grace Tapak, to even her day with a 1-1 record.Â
Also competing in the consolation bracket, the doubles tandem of Carlota Trevino and Kristine Lindal picked up an 8-6 win over the Marquette duo of Ali Dawson and Aleeza Kanner.
The Regionals closed the door on the fall season for the Mastodons, as the spring season kicks off on January 23 when the team hosts Chicago State and St. Francis (Pa.) in an indoor doubleheader.
