
Beard Takes 78th as Mastodons Place 27th at NCAA Regionals

MADISON, Wis. - Led by a career-best time of 21:46 over 6,000-meters from sophomore Brittany Beard, the IPFW women's cross country team placed 27th overall at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional hosted by the University of Wisconsin.
IPFW totaled 800 points in the event, ahead of Cincinnati (821), Detroit (829), Green Bay (868), Evansville (919), and Cleveland State (959). Nationally ranked Michigan State won the event with 28 points, while host Wisconsin took second with 82 total points.
Beard placed 78th overall in the strong field, topping her career-best by over 15 seconds over the race. Breanna and Brittany Fensler finished 12 seconds apart, Breanna taking 162nd in a time of 23:09, while Brittany placed 168th in 23:21.
Rachel Kacer placed 186th for IPFW in a time of 23:48, with Kayla McGurk rounding out the scoring five for the Mastodons in 24:40. Taylor Busch (214th/25:09) and Sydney Strang (217th/25:57) closed out the seven Mastodons in the race.
