
Mastodons Host Grace For Fitness Day Challenge Game

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The IPFW women's basketball team kicks off its home schedule with an early start against Grace, with tip off set for 11:30 a.m. on November 18. The game will be a part of the 3rd annual IPFW Fitness Day Challenge.
As part of the IPFW Fitness Day Challenge, the Mastodons welcome in over 375 elementary students to participate in athletic related stations in the IPFW Fieldhouse prior to the game to encourage students to stay active in their everyday life.

Freshman KeShyra McCarver earned The Summit League's Co-Player of the Week award along with Raeshel Contreras of South Dakota for their performances Nov. 14-16.
McCarver captures her first career Player of the Week award after recording a double-double in her first collegiate game at Illinois. The freshman forward scored a game-high 22 points on 5-of-10 shooting from the field and was 11-of-12 (.917) at the free throw line. She grabbed 14 rebounds, eight offensive, while hitting one of her three shots from three-point range. Her 14 rebounds are the most in school history by a freshman in their first career game and her eight offensive boards are the most by a freshman in a single game.
Three-Point Streak...
The IPFW Mastodons have made a 3-point field goal in 466 straight contests, a stretch that ranks as the third longest active streak in NCAA Division I. Iowa State's streak is at the top of the list by making a 3-point field goal in 613 consecutive games. Sam Houston State is the only other team head of IPFW with 564.
Shooting the lights out...
At the conclusion of the 2013-14 season, IPFW was one of only four teams the be ranked in the top-30 of all Division I programs in field-goal (30th), free-throw (4th), and three-point (7th) percentages. The other three teams included: Connecticut, Minnesota, and Notre Dame.

The Mastodons finished the 2013-14 season fourth in Division I as a team posting a free-throw percentage of 78.7, behind Iowa St., Saint Joseph's and Nebraska who finished the year at 80.4, 80.1, and 79.8, respectively. This is the second consecutive year that IPFW has finished fourth among all Division I schools in free throw percentage.
Over the past three seasons, IPFW has ranked in the top-20 in free throw percentage each year. The Mastodons are one of only four schools to do so. The others are: Florida International, Notre Dame, and Utah State.
